
Fueled by the Eastern Police District’s (EPD) unwavering dedication to proactive and responsive policing, Marikina cops promptly arrested two suspects involved in a robbery with violence and a violation of RA 11235 on July 29, 2025, at about 2:00 PM along Rosas St., Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City. This swift and resolute action reflects EPD’s strong commitment to ensuring public safety.
Reports received by PBGEN ADEN T LAGRADANTE, District Director, EPD from PCOL GEOFFREY N FERNANDEZ, Chief of Police, Marikina City revealed that on the said date and place, the victim was on her way home when two suspects identified as a.k.a. “Bonbon” and a.k.a “Ango”, were riding a motorcycle, suddenly stopped beside the female victim and declared holdup. Alias Bonbon pointed a kitchen knife and inflicted a wound on the victim’s hand while violently seizing her cellphone.
Subsequently, an off–duty police officer from ANCAR Marikina CPS, who happened to be passing by noticed the ongoing incident. He immediately approached the victim and he was informed that she was robbed by two suspects. The same police officer then told the victim to stay and wait in the area and pursued the suspects onboard his motorcycle, the chase continued until the suspects accidentally crashed into a parked vehicle. Seizing the opportunity, the responding off-duty police officer commanded the suspects to drop down and face the ground. In timely arrival, two police officers who were conducting patrol in the area, saw the commotion and immediately assisted the off-duty police officer in arresting the suspects. Recovered items from the suspects were one (1) unit of cellphone VIVO V29 amounting PHP25,599.00, kitchen knife and White Honda ADV 155 motorcycle.
The DD, EPD praised the Marikina police for their outstanding commitment to public safety, especially to the officers whose relentless efforts—even beyond official duty hours—played a vital role in suppressing violent crimes in the area. “I commend the bravery, precision, and swift action of our Marikina Cops. Their dedication led to the quick response to perilous scenario and the elimination of unruly individuals from our streets. This is another strong message that we will not allow our communities to be threatened by criminal activity.”
The two suspects were temporarily detained at Marikina City Police Station Custodial Facility while pertinent document are being prepared before filing the case through inquest proceedings.
